These pages are for people thinking about, or in the process of applying to study, Computing Science at Newcastle University.

The University and the School

The City of Newcastle is well known as a great place to live, and the University enjoys a reputation for teaching quality. The School of Computing has a lively, friendly atmosphere and students quickly get to know each other and members of staff.

Degrees and Applying

We offer a wide range of degrees in Computing Science and Information Systems for Undergraduates either alone or combined with other subjects.

For postgraduates, we offer taught masters courses in:-

  • Bioinformatics
  • Computing Science
  • Computer Security and Resilience
  • E-Business and Information Systems (jointly with Newcastle University Business School)
  • System Design for Internet Applications
  • A Pre-sessional Java course is available for applicants for CSR and SDIA without any knowledge of Java.
There are also opportunities to study for either a PhD or MPhil in Computing as a research student.
