Interaction and space

Speaker: Chris Kray

Abstract

In this talk, I will give an overview over my research, which is concerned with interaction and space. I will report on issues in and solutions for situated interaction on spatial topics in the context of a mobile tourist guide. Topics covered will include communicating spatial concepts and coping with location information of varying quality. Furthermore, I will discuss the concept of relative positioning and its application in ubiquitous computing. Here, I will present a system combining location sensing hardware and a distributed infrastructure for spatial interaction on planar surfaces. Finally, I will present one of my current research projects, which deals with pervasive navigation support for pedestrians using networks of situated displays. Ill point out some interesting research question in that area and discuss some initial ways of dealing with them.
