Software Concerns: Separation and Composition

Abstract

Separation of concerns is a well-recognised principle. But it is not always easy to say exactly what is, and what is not, a concern. In this talk a notion of concern is presented based on the decomposition of realistic problems into simple subproblems. The composition of these subproblems to obtain a full solution to the original problem raises further concerns of a different nature.
