Pervasive Messaging and Telemetry Integration

Speaker: Andy Stanford Clark

28th February 2006 , 2pm , 1.18 Claremont Tower

Abstract

In many industries, much of the data that companies need to run their day-to-day operations comes from "outside" the business... literally out in the field. Oil pipeline companies need to monitor the flow of liquid through their pipelines, power companies need to monitor generators, distribution grid, and consumer meters. Getting this data into the business applications which make use of it, is a major challenge. This seminar looks at the world of messaging and telemetry, and how IBM is solving the end-to-end data integration problem. Amongst the examples of real-world projects that will be described, are oil/gas pipeline monitoring, electric meter reading, weather monitoring, vehicle tracking, and electronic mouse traps!
