Abstract
Current industry and academic research is going down an inappropriate path. We will give examples of alternative ways of looking at problems and how conventional thinking can stifle development. The examples will be generic, drawn from various disciplines as well as computing. The intention is to try to encourage people to consider using lateral thinking to solve various "insurmountable" problems and avoid "physical barriers" when developing new technologies
