Brief Biography

Chris Holt received his first degrees (AB and SM) in
Applied Mathematics from Harvard University, and his
DPhil in Computing from Oxford. He worked as a
research assistant and lecturer at the Queen's
University of Belfast (1981-1987) after which he
joined the Computing Laboratory at the University
of Newcastle, where he has remained. His research
interests currently include questions about how
communities of evolving neural nets and expert
systems can effectively communicate, and how the
implicit knowledge contained within the former can
be extracted and formalized to generate the latter.
