Brief Biography
Dr Snow became a lecturer in 1970, teaching introductory programming (in AlgolW) to first year students in the newly established undergraduate discipline of Computing Science. Since then, he has taught courses in Operating Systems, Concurrent Programming, Machine Architecture, Models of Machines and Computation, Hardware/Software Interfaces, System and Network Security, and Introductory Programming (again! - this time in Java). He is currently Chairman of the School's Board of Studies. Since 1991, he has been Deputy Director of the European Union's Network of Excellence in Dependable and Distributed Systems (CaberNet), becoming Director in 2001 following Brian Randell's retirement. His current research interest is in cryptography and network security. He was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2000.
