Brief Biography

I am the Technical Director of the North-East Regional e-Science Centre, which is based in the School of Computing Science at Newcastle University.

My research interests include Grid and Inter-Organisational Computing and the role of network structure and dynamics in biological extinction.

Before joining NEReSC, I was a software engineer, then a consulting contractor in the IT and telecommunications industry, counting amongst my successes the rollout of ntl's narrow- and broad-band ISP offerings in the UK and Ireland; the redesign and deployment of Orange's multimedia and text messaging services infrastructure and the development of Ericsson 3G services for the Japanese market.

At NEReSC, I am responsible for instigating, running and supporting a number of industrially-focussed e-Science projects.
